Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026

VYPN is a VPN service operated by VYPN AG, Switzerland, accessible at www.vypn.net and through our apps. This policy covers the VYPN VPN app and this website.

We follow a minimal-data approach: we collect only what we need to operate the service. We process it to run and secure the service (our legitimate interest) and, for optional features you enable, based on your choice.

What we don't log

When you use the VPN, we do not log:

  • Websites or services you visit, DNS queries, or any traffic content.
  • The source IP you connect from, or destination IPs you reach.
  • Connection timestamps, session duration, or per-user bandwidth.

Our VPN servers process traffic in real time without persistent identifiable storage.

DNS content filtering

The app offers optional DNS filters (for example ads, trackers, and malware). When you enable them, filtering happens as domains are resolved through the VPN — we do not log which domains you request or which were blocked.

What we collect

  • Aggregated, anonymous counters — for example, the number of active connections per location — used for capacity planning.
  • Approximate location for server suggestions — we derive an approximate country from your IP address to suggest a nearby VPN server. It is not kept as a profile.
  • Web server logs — standard request logs (IP address, user agent, requested page) retained for up to 30 days and used only to prevent abuse.
  • Support emails — if you write to us, we keep your message as long as needed to help you.
  • Crash and error reports — to fix bugs, the app sends diagnostic reports to our own self-hosted error-tracking server on vypn.net when something goes wrong. These include technical details such as the error and stack trace, your device model, and the OS and app version. They are never used for advertising or tracking, and we keep them for up to 12 months. This is on by default; you can turn it off any time in the app under Settings.

We do not show ads, sell data, or share data with advertisers or analytics companies. There is no user account.

How we protect your data

Your connection is encrypted in transit. Diagnostic reports go only to our own self-hosted server — we do not use third-party analytics SDKs.

Where we process data

Our VPN servers are located in several countries so you can choose where to connect; they pass your traffic in real time and store no personal data about you. Support messages and diagnostic reports are handled on infrastructure operated by VYPN AG.

Cookies

The website uses a small number of first-party cookies to remember your language and session. No third-party tracking cookies.

Children

Our service is not intended for users under 14, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of the personal data we hold about you, object to its processing, and withdraw any consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email support@vypn.net. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or your local authority in the EU. We follow Swiss data protection law (FADP) and the GDPR for European users.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version, with its date, is always shown here.
